We meet every Sunday at 10.00am and 6.00pm at Christ the King on Deeble Road, NN15 7AA. It helps to get there 5-10 minutes before the service to get a parking spot and a seat in time for the start. The services follow a general pattern that sometimes changes during holiday periods; any change will be posted below and on social media. The 10.00am service is also live-streamed via our YouTube channel (search 'Christ the King, Kettering').
MishMash takes place on the second Sunday of every month from 2.30pm to 4.30pm
Worship
Worship is central to our life together, giving an opportunity to respond to God’s love for us. It is seen in all that we do day by day. Dress is casual - we focus more on the person than on what they look like. We have people of all ages and backgrounds, including a large number of children and young people. We are very tolerant of them wandering about and joining in and we love them to be involved. We are easygoing about how people express their emotions during worship and people within the congregation will sometimes pray spontaneously. Words are projected onto a large screen and Bibles are available at the back of the church for use. Seating is on comfortable chairs.
Most weeks the whole family begin the service together for the first 20 minutes and then the children go to their groups for about an hour, returning for the final few minutes of the service. Every six weeks or so we have a slightly shorter service at 10am called One Life, when we all stay together and the content is particularly designed to be accessible to all the family.
At 6pm on the same days as One Life we hold a service called Going Deeper which is an opportunity to experience an extended time of worship and to respond to what God is saying to us.
Prayer Ministry is available at all services.
Music
Our worship in song is led by very able and spirit-filled musicians. The style of worship is modern and lively with some use of Common Worship liturgy. The music groups usually include keyboard, guitar, brass, woodwind, percussion and singers. There is no organ.
Children & Young People
We offer groups for children of all ages at both of our morning services. These groups are an opportunity for the children to grow in their own faith in Jesus and to build good relationships with their peers and the adults who lead the groups. Each session includes fun, games, snacks, drinks and activities around a biblical theme.
Café Church
About once every half term we have a Café Church service to replace our usual 6pm service. It aims to provide a space for people to access church in a way that feels more comfortable. This is a great way to try out church if you're a bit unsure, to get to know some people at church or to connect with God in a different way to deepen your relationship with him.
At Café Church:
-
The rows of chairs are removed and replaced by sofas, tables and chairs and beanbags.
-
Tea and coffee are available all the way through.
-
The elements of an ordinary service are reimagined to allow people to engage with them in a different way, to help us connect with God and each other afresh.
-
The service is slightly shorter to allow time for people to get to know each other better.
-
Our young people join with the rest of the congregation to grow together, so there are no groups.
Other Worship Opportunities
This takes place in the small groups, such as Life Groups and Manna, which are in the church or in people’s homes, or sometimes on Zoom. There is also a communion service at the church at 10.00am on Wednesdays.
